Expansion of Walnut Elementary School Facilities to Improve Learning Environment

As part of Uniondale School District’s efforts to alleviate crowded conditions, Walnut Elementary School is expanding with interior renovations and a new 19,252 SF addition, construction-managed by the partnership of Elite and Triton Construction.

Strategic planning utilizing occupied phasing ensures minimal disruptions during demolition and the installation of drainage systems, new boilers, upgrades for the HVAC, new electrical and gas services, and construction of new retaining walls, playground and parking lot.

The two-story addition includes 14 new air-conditioned classrooms, one computer lab, two sets of boys and girls bathrooms, and 7 single restrooms. The renovations for the library, science room, computer room, and general purpose room also include new A/C units, intended to improve learning conditions and occupant comfort.
