NYSOPRHP Pond Enhancements North of the Southern State Parkway

Elite is diving into construction management services at Hempstead Lake State Park for 140 acres of pond enhancements that will improve the water quality, better manage stormwater, reduce channel erosion, and create/restore diverse habitats and ecosystems. A new trail with an overlook deck, a pedestrian bridge and a new greenway extending to the surrounding neighborhoods will encourage social connectivity with the community.

As part of the Living with the Bay program, this $16.24 Million project will include dredging to remove debris and filter pollutants, while the creation of wetlands, and floatable catchers and sediment basins at the inlets will improve the quality of the water flowing into the bay, as well as increase storage capacity.
